Plant floor and back office on one network, with costing you can defend

IT for Egyptian manufacturers: Odoo ERP with real bills of material, segmented plant networks, industrial Wi-Fi and hardware for the production floor.

Manufacturing
  • ZeroUnplanned production stops during staged cutovers
  • DaysMonth-end close, instead of weeks
  • Aisle-levelVerified Wi-Fi coverage, not floor-plan estimates

What we get called about

  • Job costing that nobody in finance fully trusts
  • Production stopping because the network dropped in the warehouse
  • Stock on the system that does not match stock on the rack
  • Machine controllers sharing a network with office email
  • Maintenance history living in a supervisor's notebook

What we put in place

  • ERP that reaches the shop floor
  • OT/IT segmentation
  • Industrial Wi-Fi
  • Rugged endpoints
  • Downtime visibility
The playbook

What that looks like in practice

  • ERP that reaches the shop floor

Bills of material, routings and work orders in Odoo, with terminals where the work happens so production is booked as it happens rather than reconstructed at month end.

  • OT/IT segmentation

Machines, SCADA and controllers on their own segments with controlled routes to business systems. The single highest-value security change on most plants.

  • Industrial Wi-Fi

Coverage designed and verified in the aisles with the racking loaded, not from an empty floor plan. Roaming that survives a forklift driving the length of the building.

  • Rugged endpoints

Scanners, terminals and printers rated for dust, temperature and being dropped. Specified for the environment rather than the price list.

  • Downtime visibility

Simple dashboards showing line status, stoppage reasons and OEE, built from data you already generate.

Where manufacturing IT projects usually go wrong

Costing built on assumptions. A bill of material that has not been updated since the product changed, and a routing with standard times nobody has timed. The ERP will faithfully calculate the wrong margin, forever.

The network treated as an office network. Then a warehouse extension gets one access point, the racking goes in, and coverage vanishes exactly where the scanners are used.

Plant and office on the same flat network. Convenient for two years and catastrophic once. A compromised office laptop should not be able to see a PLC.

Data captured twice. Production booked on paper, entered by an administrator the next morning. Every discrepancy becomes an argument nobody can settle.

What we do first

The discovery for a manufacturing site takes longer than an office and is worth more. We walk the floor, read the network, look at how production is booked, and check whether the bills of material match what is being built.

That last one is often the finding that matters most, and it has nothing to do with technology.

Cutover without stopping the line

Infrastructure work is staged into windows you set, usually weekends or between shifts, with a tested rollback prepared before we touch anything. ERP goes live module by module in dependency order, with parallel running where the risk justifies the extra effort.

We have never needed to stop a production line to do our work, and we will tell you in advance if a step is the exception.
